Academia Sinica Catalyst Award Competition: Review Process and Criteria
Review of Applications: Step-wise review process will be conducted as follows:
- Administrative Review
This first round of review consists of screening submissions to determine whether applications are complete and whether they meet the eligibility criteria. Submissions that are explicitly unrelated to the call or are considered incremental advances will be excluded.
- Innovation Review
- Innovation reviewers with a history of innovative and creative thinking will be invited, including experts from across the health, medical, biological, and social sciences, as well as business leaders and thought/opinions leaders from across the disciplines.
- All submissions will be reviewed by innovation reviewers in a double-blinded process – applicants’ personal and organizational information will not be known to reviewers, and reviewers’ personal and organizational information will not be known to applicants.
- Each proposal will be read by at least 2 reviewers.
- When necessary, a review panel will be formed to assess the top-ranked proposals (approximately 10-30). If needed, additional expert reviews for comments on the proposals’ scientific merits and promises will be collected..
- Final Review
- An AS-appointed Selection Committee will validate the assessments and decisions made by the reviewers.
- A due diligence review will be conducted to verify that applicants are appropriate recipients of Catalyst Awards.
Up to 15 Catalyst Award winners will be selected in 2023.
